Peplum for Plus Size?

Hello lovelies, I hope you are well.

I am into the last couple of days of my holiday now, and it’s safe to say its been a pretty horrendous week. I went to the doctors and was prescribed some pain killers for an issue with my feet, however I then had a really bad reaction to these which left me with agonising stomach pains for 3 days. So now I have to be on two different medications for the next month to rectify the damage the others did. I’m still in pain now and I am having to be very careful of what I eat but am nowhere near as bad as I was.

It has certainly made me think about how much we rely on pharmaceuticals without knowing what’s really in them. I think I will be looking into more natural remedies in future before going straight to the doctors. Let me know if you use natural remedies. But anyway enough of the rubbishness, I’m sure I’ll be on the mend soon enough.

As a plus size lass I have always had a love hate relationship with the peplum style, I can never decide whether it makes me look even larger on the bottom half. I was in my local Asda Living the other day looking for something to wear for a few drinks with my bestie and saw this gorgeous pattern and then realised it was a peplum style, think “ah well never mind, peplum doesn’t normally suit me” I didn’t even bother to try it on.

I went in Next and Peacocks and still couldn’t find anything I liked so thought to myself “why not? why shouldn’t I wear a top with a gorgeous print just because its a style that doesn’t always suit my frame.” So with that I went back into Asda Living and tried it on and fell in love. At only £12.50 it was a bargain.

Now I know it does probably make me look bigger round my tum but so what? And that’s what I’m going to do more, be more daring with my choices and not caring how others might perceive me to look. I’m not saying I don’t care because I think its very hard not to with Instagram, Facebook and everything else popping up with ads of girls of all sizes looking absolutely amazing. And I often look at even plus size models wearing certain things that I love the look of but think, “yeah but there’s no way I could pull that off”.

So although this is only a £12.50 top, I am hoping this is the start of me being open to more different styles over the next couple of months.

  1. This is such a look! You look so beautiful. If you can, hold onto this in the future- out of your comfort zone, why not? It’s worth a try. It suits you so well and I have a deep need for this tbh. Thank you for sharing this, it has given me a bit of a confidence boost x

  2. I love this top! I couldn’t believe it was from Asda when I read it – it looks like Top Shop or something! I personally don’t think it makes you look bigger – you look great! I think more people need to read this and remember that you can wear whatever you want! Screw all these articles that tell you to dress a certain way for your body type!!
