2020 Round up: Look at all that stuff I didn’t do!

Hello Lovelies, I hope you are well.

It’s safe to say it has been a crazy week this week as we were plunged into a lockdown at 8pm when I was expecting my full class back in on the Tuesday. But with week one done I am feeling positive that I can get through this lockdown of teaching online and do the absolute best for my class!

I normally do a goals of the year and set out my aims but I figured there isn’t exactly much point in that. I am sick of setting unrealistic ‘resolution, goals, aims whatever you want to call it. We all put way to much pressure in ourselves to be these new and improved versions and quite frankly it is far too draining for your average January never mind one in the midst of a year long pandemic.

My only thing I am doing this year is making a promise to myself. . . A promise to not stress about the things that I have no control over. Teaching in the last lockdown (online and in school) took a real toll on my mental health and well being. I know that I am doing the best I can and that I am a damn good teacher so if things change out of my control that is not something for me to take to heart.

So for this years round up / talking about the new year I thought I’d have a laugh looking back at all the things I thought I was going to do last year not realising we were about to be in Pandemic.

What were my 2020 goals?

Shop more Local

This is one that I do feel I have done more this year. It is still something that I am always trying to improve on but I do think I have definitely improved. Particularly in the times that we are in supporting local businesses is something that we should all strive for if possible.

Save some dollar

Now this one we managed somewhat, we obviously saved money from not going out and travelling; But then we used the money to spend on finishing the house off. We have been in it for over 5 years now so it was nice to be able to spend some money on some high quality furniture.

Travel More

I mean the hilarity of this one speaks for itself really doesn’t it! I know some people still managed to get away but that was just not what Michael and I was wanting to do in this Pandemic. We also had gigs booked that have been postponed but hopeful they will happen this year if they turn in the right direction with the vaccines getting rolled out.
